    Default Dropped my STI !!!

I was taking my STI down as my gf was driving and she hammered a corner while it was in my hand. It flew out of my hand and hit the dash cracking the plastic covering the gauges then it smoked the door pretty hard (damned crazy women drivers!) I was wondering if the STI does take a good hit could the case or internal parts be damaged enough to leak frequencies for the spectre to pick up?

No, the STi is built like a tank. Go to Bel's web site, do the online chat thing and explain what happened. I take it that just the deep red tinted display cover is cracked? If so, ask Bel to send you a replacement display cover. It is easy to replace, but you will need a #9 torx screwdriver, and you will need specific instructions from me about how to replace it while avoiding the possibility of damage due to static electricity. Just send me a PM once you get the new display cover and I will PM you back with specific instructions.

Judging from what I read his gauge cluster and door got damaged by the STi, but no apparent damage to the STi itself... it's got a magnesium case, nice 'n strong, it should be ok unless it got damaged such that it doesn't work anymore.

x2, I think the car was damaged by the STi

At any rate, just watch out for any service required or self-cal messages in the near future. Normally an odd self-cal once a year or two isn't too bad, but in your case, you might want to send it in if you get one, simply because of your using it as a battering ram inside your vehicle.

PS: kaptz, nice to see you posting.

Yeah, I rotate between my many obsessions and their associated forums. RD.net is back on my radar (pun intended) after finding my old Unidung RD in the shed, and the synthesizer forums are getting neglected again...

It was my understanding that a lot of the STi's stealth is due to the magnesium case keeping detectable emissions in the case. As long as it doesn't have a crack in it or something it should be alright.

Actually, the STi's stealth comes from the design within its antenna. The magnesium casing simply is for looks and durability. The STi-R and 95000ci antennas are mounted in plastic cases, and they are just as stealth as the STi.
