I would always suggest the Vector 995 over the 955 any day due to the extra range you will get with it. If the extra range is not that important and you feel safe with the 955 then go a head and get that and save the $60 for extra accessories, most important one of all a Laser Jammer.

Can I get the v995 with a laser jammer as an accessory?

Another option would be getting the Escort 8500 Passport S7 refurb from the Escort store on eBay for $149.99 and combining it with the Escort ZR3 laser jammer for $240. The laser jammer is a separate install to your vehicle, which has transceivers that go on the front and rear of your car to protect against laser. The Escort 8500 S7 has the best performance out of any of the Vector series and costs the same or less than a new V955. Either way it's a win win

Plus one.. To consider a 8500 S7 from Escort. I got mine from the Escort Ebay store for $149 including shipping. It's a very good RD.

From reading over on the Escort forum. The S7 performs very well against I/O. Where as some other RD's from Escort/Bel don't. This may or may not matter that much to you. Also, the S7's have good off axis detection as well.
