A difference between Sti Magnum and Escort's Redline

I just had it a though is there is any meaningful difference between Bell Sti Magnum and
Escort's Redline.

Performance-wise they are very close with the edge going to the RedLine.

Their voices and alert tones are different. RedLine has a female voice while the Magnum's is male. There are some minor display differences such as Expert meter on the RedLine vs Threat meter on the Magnum. The Magnum's display can also be inverted so that you can mount it upside down.

Just a silly thought I know. I'd like a Michel Jackson limited addition R/L version that came on with the song "beat it" when one was hit with a full burst of I/O radar or laser.

Yes, seeing the buttons are tough up high, but there is only 4 and with the voice announcements I have never had problem. Its pretty easy.

I think more eye pleasing is the Bell's Magnum.
I also like better the more linear Bell's rampup.
Escort has to address that issue.

I debated the same two before opting for the Redline (today in fact). After reading the test reviews I opted for the Redline due to its better range. When I spoke with Escort ‘Randy’ (very helpful by the way) he told me the RL was slightly more sensitive, different male/female voice and that the Magnum was more targeted to Truck Stop sales. I already knew of the more desirable ramp-up of the Magnum and that it had a male voice (I guess redneck truck drivers hate to be told what to do by women). As for the lip on the Redline, I envision that may be beneficial as a way to lightly stabilize your fingers while manipulating the buttons.

Either way, it was a painful decision process as I'm blessed with being both anal-retentive and OCD.

I must be a red neck trucker driving a vw gti hatchback then. I went with the sti magnum because the ramp up and better design (I mount the radar high up near the headliner)

the range between my sti driver (upgraded to sti magnum) is basically exactly the same as my friends escort redline on 34.7 (tested with my buddy's stalker atr radar gun). Both go off consistantly right around 1.5 to 2 miles...more than enough time to slow myself down with either one.
