I sure this has probably been asked, so sorry. But since Escort and Bel are now one can we assume the 9500 is on par with the RX-65 or STI driver, or is it a 8500 with gps.
Thoughts?

Anyone taken one apart yet for internal photos?
As far as the software goes, I think the interface is closest to an X50, especially with the Expertmeter. Personally, I would have perfered the expertmeter from the Rx65 but I'll cope.
I think they need to combine the two. I think the numeric display of the RX65 is much easier to read on the fly than the vertical bar graph of the X50. I do not like the fact that you cannot see mutiple signals on the RX65 though, if I would have known this I wouldn't have bought it over the X50. Florida Highway Patrol do quite a bit of multiple car enforcement, one car here...another around the next corner, the next car another 1/4 mile down the road...etc.
If I designed the display it would simply look like this for a two threat Ka signal with the police in this format:
[Your car] --->..............[cop#1]..............................[cop#2]
DIPLAY: {Ka94 }
The nine would be blinking and the number location would not change for the signals even when the signal strengh reverses to the second signal being stronger as you pass the first radar source.
[Cop#1]..................[Your car]--->.......................[cop#2]
DISPLAY: {Ka19 }
The other feature I would add would be a different tone if you have two radar bands being detected and they are both over 4 in the signal strength.
A few times I have been unaware that my RX65 is showing:
{Ka2 K7 } because it decides the Ka is more important and thats what alert tone it gives me even if the K alert ramps way up. Both of these signals are critically important so I think there should be a seperate tone all together for this situation or have the audio project the rapid K with a quick Ka every 5th note or so depending on the second alert strength.
Anyone agree ??
I don't think it's an X50 with GPS because it does not behave like an X50. The 9500i does not ramp up like the X50 in K and Ka band. Initial test shows that the 9500i in Ka band is better than the X50. The X50 does not have the speed sensing auto sensitivity that the 9500i has. Although, it looks to me that some of the features the X50 had was incorporated with the 9500i, i believe it has a new platform.Originally Posted by Bear-Tweezy
with newer technology it would hopefully detect farther than a previous model... but to me it just looks like an X50 with GPS... plus as Escort stated it is no better performance wise than the X50 :roll:Originally Posted by Azonehits
There is no newer technology to detect further. Escort unlike the V1 tries to limit non LEO alerts. So, Escort trys to employ more filtering to make it a less noisy by every door opener.
Not neccessarily but can be done. Will see what the GOL test rsults will be.Originally Posted by Bear-Tweezy
Just because it looks like an X50 to you does't mean it has the same platform. Escort has even said in the past that the X50 has better Ka band performance than the 8500 and found out with testing that the 8500 was a better performer in some Ka band detection. Escort stated that city mode only affects X band but during some test, it filters K bnad. We will never know until they do the test. :roll:

I am willing to bet anyone that it is based on the X50 platform. I am not sure why so many people hate the X50 in terms of performance. They make it sound like it is a low end detector. Personally the X50 is my second favorite detector (at least my wife's old one that I sold a while back). Its performance is good and its features are rich.Originally Posted by Azonehits

LET THE BIRTH OF MANY TESTING GROUPS HAPPEN!
You want to know what it is like doing something for the love and passion and not for the mighty dollar then look up GOL!
buyradardetectors rocks!

I have been following a number of your posts lately. You are really getting on my nerves with all you talk about how great the 9500I is. You also come across as some big know it all. That's funny because when i challenged you to a debate you ran away with your tail between your legs. STEP UP, OR STEP OFF.
