I've also found myself wondering about how far off the replacement for the S2 might be, as the S2 has been on the market for several years already. (Of course, it's still a baby compared to the "classic" V1  !)

HERE IS WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR SHORT VERSION

    OK here it is!
Please remember, this was more of an experiment than an actual test. For a few of the detectors, we did a second run, and the results seemed to be consistent with the first run.

Results in number of feet from source at which the detector alerted.

I have the Solo S2 in my truck, and it's fine for the truck use's. However I used to have another one in the bimmer and replaced with the V1, after getting no warning 3 times after being hit w/ laser.

Not to pop your bubble but did you see the latest test GOL did? The S2 detected KA at like 390 feet, the V1 was at 1100 feet!!!
You look at these tests, or the one that radar roy put up on his site. Who are you going to trust more? I know who I am, at least his matches what I've researched on the internet. Besides the word unofficial...

There is going to be people that always put down cordless detectors because they automatically label cordless as sucking. Sorry, but that is the case.

No, but I should. My car is a lease so its not really worth it, and high speeds on the truck are scary and dangerous.
