Hi, for christmas I bought myself the Escort Passport 8500 x50 red display. Im planning to use it this week when I drive from El paso to Dallas Texas. My question is, I know I will be using the highway mode but should I turn POP on..? I have it currently off right now. Also, what is the POP mode..? Hope you guys can help..!

Welcome to the forum. Turn POP OFF. All POP does is increase the X50's reaction against POP bands/frequencies (K and Ka 33.8). Turning POP OFF will increase the X50's reaction time against non-POP bands. I recommend doing this since the primary threat you will be facing is TX DPS I/O Ka 34.7.

Along with purchasing a good radar detector (which you have done), coming here and learning as much as you can will go a long way in reducing your ticket and insurance costs in the future.

It is also a good idea to start thinking about getting a laser jammer. There is a lot of subject matter pertaining to laser jammers here, and learning before you buy is the way to go.
