Default Need help on some questions on veil plz help me!

I have a Grey metalic 04 gti. I am about to place my order but there is a couple of questions i need answered.

1- how affective is veil on a car that is metalic grey?

2- how affective is Laser shield without veil on it?

3- does it help to get headlight covers with veil on it?

4- the front emblem on my car is chrome should i paint it black or should i put veil on it? ( this is a show/track car....looks are important to me)also the emlem is about 3inx3.

5- Is the rear plate something to worry about?

6- does car wash affect veil?

thats really about it, any answers will be great. i Have a radar detector which i bought a while back(Bel 985). I just got a ticket and got busted with a laser gun and i wanna make sure that next time i have more time in advance to slow down.I live in Nj and if anyone lives here they will know what the insurance premiums are like. Thanks agian in advanced.

Also this is my first post in this forum.

Welcome to the forum. Why don't you just buy a laser jammer and have as much time as you want? 8)

I don't recommend you using only Veil w/o a laser jammer, especially on a silver car.....maybe if it was a black car you'd be okay, but not a silver one. Did you also buy a laser shield to cover up the license plate? That $20.00 will be the best money you ever spent.

    vwgtiturbo,

Welcome to the forum. The answers to your questions are:

    1) Shape of vehicle is more important the color. If your car is aerodynamic like Seth's silver cavalier, you can do quite well with Veil/LS combo. (Read real experiences section).

    2) LS is effective without Veil. Tests have demonstrated that Veil will improve the performance even further.

    3) I am not convinced that Veil treated covers provide significant improvements in performance over Veil'd headlights...but it certainly won't hurt.

    4) If the emblem is angled away from the front (like on a hood), I wouldn't be as concerned about treating it with Veil.

    5) Standard car washes, power washes shouldn't affect the longevity of Veil.

Good luck and keep us posted on your progress!

Bob, would Veil flake over time if you applied Veil to the inside of the headlights? What causes the flaking? Is it moisture?

    vwgtiturbo,

Something I like about this car (laser) is the grill and lower portions of the front fascia.

If you don't require a plate on the front, you may want to put either a veil'd LS as you would if you had a plate. The reason for this is that a primary target area is the plate and you'll do better with that set-up than an untreated front-surface of silver metallic.

Given the position and angle of your emblem, it wouldn't hurt to Veil it.

Contrary to popular belief, active jammers are not infallable. Whether you ultimately decide to go active or not, Veil still makes a sensible cost effective solution.

Again, good luck with whatever path you choose.

i am probably going to go active in the future but my car is pushing to much power to keep it at 65. i went to the docs today and i got hit with laser twice but i was going with the flow of traffic. should i just go active or go with veil and LS? at this moment i can't afford to go active so i am looking for a alternative solution for the time being. So if u were in my shoes what will u do.

how effective will LS and veil be on my car? if it's not going to do what i need it to do im just going to get Ls and Veil and go active in future.

Veil Guy thanks for your responses, it great to get info from direct company, great way to run a bussiness.

    vwgtiturbo,

Its tough to be precise, because of the different combination of laser guns and targeting situations as well as vehicle types. If Veil'd well, perhaps I figure punch throughs possible at 550-600+/- feet.

Although Sethy has gotten several JTGs (jam to guns) and Dilip (with a yellow Mazda - an easier color for laser to see) has repeatedly experience punch throughs around 500' providing 5 seconds of reaction time.

If you comb through the real-experiences section of the forum, you'll get a good cross section of real-world experiences across a variety of vehicles and situations.

    welcome vwgtiturbo!

i was in your shoes a few months ago as i wanted to get some laser protection, but i did not have enough money for an active jammer. i purchased a lasershield and veil from http://radarbusters.com. unfortuantely, i applied my veil when the weather was too cold and got caught in the rain the day after i applied...now my veil is flaking and chipping off. so far i have only been hit with laser once when i was already at the speed limit and under 500 feet so i havnt really had a chance for it to work its magic.

a few other things could factor into your decision. where are you located and where do you do most of your driving? also, how often to you see laser? if those answers are ohio and/or quite often, then i strongly suggest you get something like a blinder m-20 that has a great reputation along with the lasershield and veil. an active jammer works well, but veil increases its performance so much, that i would not get one without it.

i plan on getting an active jammer after the next guys of lidar test in the end of april. i suggest you save your pennies up and see if you are able to purchase something at that time. there are some great new products coming out that may be a solution to your problem.

hope that sheds some light on it for ya
