On my Subie I have the same problem. They put so many of those stupid dots (I think it is a conspiracy with the car designers and PD's so its harder for us to mount our RD's) on my windshield that its hard. I also have the problem of having a curve from the windshield since i have the map lights which hang down so I can not mount it above the RVM. Sorry saw this and wanted to vent a little about the dots and curve of the windshield.

YES! I have an 03 F-150 and I could NEVER get my 9500IX level. I now run a V1, and it's a little better because it has a better mount, but still a PITA to get level! IDK what it is with the Ford windshields. They have a weird curve to them!
V1 mounts = best in the business.

Glad the Expy didn't come with that crap.

My Mazda was built in the same factory as the Mustang and it has dots but built into the windshield so it's still perfectly smooth.

Someone should make a business of selling a product that goes over the dots and smooths them out so the detector mount will stick. We've come up with so many solutions to the problem that one of them should be viable.

My V1 mounts to the windshield frame, not the windshield itself. That avoids the suction cup suckage entirely.

No, but I don't think I've seen it on others. And it's an 03.

My 03 Expo has the dots, bought new
My 02 Grand Marquis had the dots but replacement came and you get a choice, dots or no dots.
Windshield shop calls the dots a third visor.
Now my V1 is where the dots were.
    $140 for replacement, not bad.

Just asked my friend with an 03 and he doesn't have them either, just the regular dye tint that I have. He's basically had since new. Maybe the early builds didn't get it? Either way, I'm happy I didn't get that stuff
