<<I like the buttons on the front too, I think that buttons on the top surface were the wrong idea in the first place. Why they had buttons on top, I don't know, glad they're getting away from that.>>

Buttons on the top let you press them without dislodging the unit from a velcro mount on the dash...? But they sure don't help with a suction cup mount or a visor mount.

Seems people owning all of the various models tested are a little disappointed in one way or another. Overall though as a V1 owner I'm not unhappy at all. Actually I wouldn't trade the 3.826's results for those of any of the others, and the laser has yet to be tested and of course the V1's got its other unique features. Yeah, I'm happy.

Detection on the other units was overall pretty darned good though; if all you want is to detect radar, most of 'em will do an OK job.

What's with that Ku range comparison though? V1, 2700 feet, RX65, 172 feet...? Are these the only two units that can detect Ku? Is it coming to the US anytime soon?

Ku isn't coming to the US anytime soon and I not even sure it was a Ku-radar gun they used to test Ku just something that leaks the Ku frequency

The V1, Bel RX65, and Bel V995 all detect Ku plus some other Bel detectors used in europe

    Spoiler: show

No (in the US) it really doesnt seem like it will be an issue for a long time to come... if it ever becomes an issue here.

    GOL:

For Ku band, we used a 13.450 GHz oscillator, since we didn't have an actual Ku radar unit available for the test
Although it was not a focused radar gun, the V1 seemed to kick aZZ sort of speak. As said before the Ku wave form is so long that detecting it should not be a problem, just like X band. Although disapointing none the less.

Hats off to V1 for still being the most well rounded RD detector out there. High priced, but that value decision is up to the consumer.

Well the thought of having the buttons on top was to allow you to grab the unit as it was mounted on the center location on the windshield. As long as you are not hitting large bumps in the road to yank it off the WS.

Buttons located on the front requires the unit to be thicker, as some companies were keeping them thin. Also units like the Whistler uses roughly 5 buttons unlike (3)Escort and (1 technically)Valentine.

My Bel LR unfortunately, I use the visor mount, I dislike it sometimes if I have too close to the left corner of my visor it powers off.
