well frist if you want to not get a speeding ticket on the highway then a cb radio is the best thing to have cause truckers give up heads time miles before you see the cop or even your v1 before it goes off when they see a cop
they allways most the times the let you know on the radio.there is a cop up head
Well, on the other hand, a good scanner will pick up CB channels as well. You can program it to scan the CB Channel you would value from the most as well as the State Police etc. if you wanted too.

This is what I'm considering doing.

Not to mention that listening to all the talk is really interesting. The other day coming home on aq 3 hr. trip, I was alerted to a big accident 50 miles up the road.
scanning for cb talk on a scanner is not so good you have to be so colse to the truck driver to even pick up the signal :?
Not so true, I have some really sensitive communication receivers that do well, that is with a "good antenna mounted" outside my vehicle...
Most of my receivers are as sensitive as a cb radio, dont get me wrong, a cb is very very sensitive but, a good scanner will do as good in my opinion with a outside antenna....

    yup that's true.

Not sure for other states, but here in NC, the truckers are very weary now due to the increase portable scale weighings that the troopers now do.

Used to be heavy trucks could take secondary roads without repercussion, but HP/LE now stops them and uses portable scales.. so definately alot of chatter on radio's where smokey or county mounty might be!
