Default Double-mute and manual mute behavior in l mode

Apparently it's an undocumented feature that if you press the mute button twice then the V1 will not sound any more bogey lock tones until the muting expires?

I also noticed that if a signal is automatically muted in little-l mode and I press the mute button once, it acts like I pressed it twice and doesn't sound any more bogey lock tones. It's like it doesn't know the difference between if the mute function was first activated manually or automatically.

    Do I understand this correctly?

This is slightly annoying because when I have passengers in the car I would like to run in little-l so that false alerts don't immediately come in at full volume, and I have a chance to mute them before they pass the threshold to go full volume. But I still want to actually hear the new bogey tones so I know what's going on, and manually muting at the same time seems to prevent that.

    I've noticed this too.

You're right... if you press mute in little L it will mute your bogey lock tone as well, considering that the alert hasn't reached it threshold to be played at full volume...
On the other hand, If the Alert is at full volume in little L, then you press mute once it will only mute the alert, but not the bogey lock tone...

Why would you press mute when the alert is muted already?

I can't seem to make sense of it. I run in little L with a 30 sec K-band automute. During the 30 seconds of automuting, sometimes the bogey lock tone is muted and sometimes it isn't when a new K band source is detected.

I'd like to have five or seven seconds of an alert at the muted volume and a chance to mute it if it's a known false before it goes to full volume.

Yeah, I tried to do some more testing this morning at a grocery store with multiple door openers, and sometimes the bogey lock tones worked and sometimes they didn't. But it was very difficult trying to influence how many bogeys it was picking up; I probably wouldn't be able to do anything definitive without doing controlled testing with radar I control myself.

Yeah, I wrote a lil story about how this almost made me get a +15 ticket to CO Ka. Hit mute button (set to lever volume for first 4 seconds) within the 4 seconds, so it muted everything, including the CO Leo when I got up to speed. Scary stuff. I am much more aware now.

Until I can figure out some sort of consistency to this behavior or it gets fixed I'm just turning the volume down.
