Default How the v1 compares in town

Hey everyone. I've posted many times and I wanted to get a general concensus. We all know the v1 is highway god but how do you all feel about It's use in town. I have already made the necessary k band automate options. What's everyones opinion on how it stands up in town, falses aside.

    Fine.

You have to take these into account for city/town driving because they're one of the prime factors of city/town driving. That's why when a newcomer joins the forum and says most of his/her driving is done in the city, we tend to try and get that person to lean more towards a RD that has false alert rejection such as the Escort 9500ix.

Well snoopy I mean all of the tests seem to point to the V1 over the 9500ix irregardless of its falses. The V1 has proven to be a much more effective detector as a whole. I dont really feel as though the falses annoy me very much, I dont see a tremendous amount of falses anymore anyways. I'm just asking about the effectiveness of the V1 to locate threats in the city. The 9500ix may have little bell and whistles but when it comes down to it, the research I did kept pointing to V1 as a nicer choice Not gonna spend $100 more for a device that has autolearn lol . Maybe i"m wrong though.

If you drive the same routes, see how many bogeys you get at false points. If you see an extra one or two watch out.

I've ran both the 9500ix and V1 in the city extensively (along with highway). In the end they are both excellent RDs. In the city, you will notice no material difference in detection range or sensitivity between the two units. Some on this forum have talked about superior I/O detection with the V1. However, I/O is the RD-killer pure and simple rather you run V1, Redline, or 9500ix. You will fare no better than against laser, for which RDs also offer no protection. And I/O is little used in most urban environments as compared to highway. In the end, it's personal choice; if you want the arrows and every last bit of sensitivity, and don't mind constant K band falsing, the V1 a great unit. If you want comparable protection, but if you and your passengers don't want all the falsing, and want GPS, get the 9500ix.

The falsing isnt happening much anymore tx, I fixed up the automute functions on the V1 for k band and it works amazingly well. GPS is not a big deal, i've got my trapster =D lol and my $1800 nav unit has a record of all the red-light cameras, etc so I'm good on that front

Then you are in good shape Dave. I set my V1 with X and POP off, with K automute. However, there are just too many falses emitted in Houston where I drive, so it didn't help all that much. Anywhere near a retail center or gas station, etc. and it lit up like a Christmas tree! The 9500ix works better for me for that reason. Either is good, just depends on your preference. Enjoy your V1!

In my opinion, I tried the 9500ix. When it locked out 2 LEOs, I sold it and got the V1. I am very very happy with the V1.I have the settings just right for my driving. I have the C50 for red light cameras. The 9500ix is a good RD, but I prefer the V1.

The detector with the best performance can't do anything for you if you ignore it because it's beeping half the time it's turned on.

Falses have to be dealt with somehow. It's a personal choice between letting the detector filter out X & K based on signal strength and time (V1), trying to filter out falses with your brain (V1 in A mode), or using TrueLock which won't alert to a 30mhz band around the false in a certain area (9500). All these methods have risks, and there are situations where each one would be appropriate.

"Town" is such an ambiguous term. I've been in cities with few falses and small towns and suburban areas with a ridiculous number of them.

If you don't encounter many falses and are regularly in the same area so you can learn where they're at, the V1 should do fine. It's the places where the V1 lights up like a cheap christmas tree and you can't make any sense of the display that the 9500 can help... sure, it might lock out a LEO using K-band because it has half of K-band locked out at that location, but you can't honestly say the V1 would do any better for you in that situation, and if the LEO is using Ka it's more obvious on the 9500 than on the V1 where that alert gets lost in the noise.

Fairly new to this forum. After extensive research I ordered the 9500ix based on some recommendations and where I live (Southern California (city/ LA Freeway driving). I was told to go with the 9500 because the V1 will false alot in the urban area.
did I do the right decision? or would I be better off with the V1? Havent got the 9500 yet.
