looks like u need to catch up on lot of radar / laser usage scenarios.
99% of pro 78 users are happy with it so either u got a bad unit or u have some kind of high end windshield which is causing problems. try in a different car if you can.

even v1 cant save u from laser, so dont buy v1 just to get a laser alert and then a ticket. get a jammer.. seems to be the only solution for you.

Also, Cobras don't perform like crap 100% of the time either -- in fact, I've found their off-axis K-band detection to be quite nice. Where Cobras fail is their HORRIBLE consistency -- one encounter might give you 1 minute warning, the next one might give you 2 seconds time before you see the cop. Whistlers will offer you much more consistent detection rates, so please test with more than just a K-band target. Ka band tends to be Cobra's major weakness too, as well as falsing.

Additionally, I'm not sure what kind of K-band radar you are dealing with, but the Whistlers even in filter 2 have less than half a second delay max from receiving a signal to sounding the alert (many other even top-notch detectors will wait 2x or 3x that time) so there's no reason why a 30km/h increase in your speed will cause such a late detection unless it's some really low-power photo radar or something.

And as others have pointed out, laser is a dangerous thing for any passive countermeasure.

comparing a V! ($400) to a Pro 78 ($130) is not a fair comparison in terms of raw sensitivity

Don't sit there and bash the pro 78 just because you don't know how to use it. I guarantee if you had a V1, you'd still get a ticket. A detector is not a free pass to speed. I don't care what brand it is. A radar detector helps you avoid a ticket but you have to help yourself too..... More than the detector. BTW, I'm tired of seeing that crappy chart from GOL showing the pro 78 way at the bottom. Show me a test with the pro 78 rev C.

Exactly. Also, look at the march testing. Pro 78 did very respectable. When Rev C is tested, they will stop laughing.... 8)

I think, in general, that most of the experienced people talk pretty highly of the Pro 78 on this board. Man, you can't beat it for the price. No different than the Bel Vector series as far as detection goes, IMO. The people that start these "Pro 78 sucks" threads are usually first timers, with little to no credibility. No one takes them seriously.

For the last time, even if you Pro 78 alerted to laser, you would have gotten a ticket.

This is my last response troll.
