    Default STi-R has real Autoscan!

By "real" I mean the old-school Autoscan that filters both X and K band.

My old (2003?) vector 985 had an Autoscan feature that did a great job of rejecting X and K door openers.

Then I bought my RX65 and it's "Autoscan" semed to be a clone of Escort's "Auto" mode..... It only filtered X band and did nothing about all the K-band door openers.

Now I have tested my STi-R, and its Autoscan seems to work just like my old 985. It's great!

It will take more time/testing to be sure, but if the R's Autoscan works as well as my old 985's, than I once again have the best non-GPS based filter system I have ever encountered.

BTW, Another feature my 985 had an "Acusweep" option that only swept the three USA FQ's. Now the STi-R offers "segmentation".

My initial impression is that the STi-R has everything I miss from my old 985, and better detection range.

The STi has X/K filtering in Autoscan too.

The Vector series adopted X-pair only filtering like the X50.

I find that Autoscan on the 985 cuts down K band sensitivity way too much too offer meaningful protection. Not having owned an STi-R I can't comment on it, but if Autoscan operates in a manner similar to the 985 I would be very careful.

Autoscan almost got me a ticket on my old 960 (barrel jack style and sister to the 985) I was running it on the highway and didn't know it filtered X band as much as it did and the state troopers run X around here.

As for the StiR, Mem tek once said it filters pairs of K band for door openers, I believe the dash Sti also does this as well, so it helps big time in the city.
