    Default Ordered the 9500i

Well guys I took the DEEP plunge and ordered the 9500i. What I do not understand is why does it cost so much? The SirfIII chip can not cost more than $20     Well anyway I want to experience this evolutionary detector for myself. I will take plenty of video for all of you once I receive it. I will put it head to head with a V1 3.858. Consider this an appetizer to the full course meal the GOL test next month
RIP Duncan my BELOVED black lab son 8/7/99-3/23/11. I will miss you DEARLY.

How you like yours? Is it a permanent replacement to your V1?

I just got home tonight and opened it (9500i). Looks very nice. I'll take the V1 down tomorrow and fire up the 9500i and give it my real world test, then decide. In the end it will either be the V1/NavAlert or the 9500i (must confess I don't like the idea of having 2 boxes up front).

Drove with the V1 and 9500i today. Yes it was used side by side and i know that it is not good. But for the sake of "let's see how these 2 will do side by side", i decided to give it a try. It surely paid off. Had a chance to see how these 2 performed with local PD using kustom 35.5 and Kustom HR-12 at 24.147.

Ka band test was staiotionary(cruiser) helping local electric company fixing a stoplight. Made 4 passes 2 with the radar going opposite direction and 2 going the same direction. Of all the 4 passes, i was surprise to to hear the 9500i going off first before the V1.

K band stationary from local PD. V1 always alerted first with K band. Ramp up is slow with the 9500i.

happy, let us know what you found out.

    Default price..lol..umm..

Price...i thought about this the other day now im not like a chip genius so not trying to argue jack here nor claim to be a chip genius as happy im sure is ..

But i thought about it like this..

Gps's normally cost what----200 to 250 bucks rite?

A good beltronics escort rd top end unit normall runs atleast --200bucks

So it is legit in my opinon that accounts for the 450 bucks or the 9500i rd.. and actually then in my opinion escort seems to be taking a hit as most of there new rd's themselves run 330 bucks..the top end units....So i dunno...im probably wrong the chip prolly don't cost that much but splitting it up thats what its worth..

Somehow I have a feeling your wife will be using the escort 9500i and you will stay with your trusty V1

Cost and Price are two very different things. Just because the chip costs $20, does not mean they want to sell it for $20.

Escort adds value though their engineering/software/design...

That being said, I think that $449 is the new base price escort set for their high end detectors.
