    Default Problems with a 9500ix

First problem was a 'power reset' message I was getting. It does it to me every time I have it on for more than say, 1/2 hour. In the manual it says a loose power cord or dirty lighter socket could be the problem but this has been going on every day for a couple months. I did try cleaning the socket.

So I called Escort and the guy told me to do a hard reset. I did this and also decided to clear all previous markers so did a database clear as well. This didn't fix the power reset message, it's still happening, and since I did this, the 9500ix isn't picking up anything. I know of a few red light cameras, of which it would alert me every day before, but since these resets, nothing. I did check the preferences and red light camera is on. Warranty issue?

After clearing everything, did you upload the latest location database to the 9500ix?

    X2.

Sounds like a connection problem, or a weak battery/alternator. Try putting it in voltage mode or try it in another car.

I have not updated online. Is that the problem?

If you cleared the database there is noting in there to alert you to.

You'll notice that the 9500iX does not report "Service Required" messages, instead it does a "Power Reset". Repetitive power resets mean that the radar unit cannot calibrate itself and needs to be sent in for repair.

Are you sure? The power reset should be for for power issues and service required for calibration issues. Unless Escort dumped the service required message for power reset?

I assume that it would alert you if a radar gun was pointed at you, regardless of that though, right?

I will call them again. Thanks for the responses, guys.
