Veil or Film?

Hi everybody. Maybe somebody was talking about this before, but since I'm new here let me try) As I understood "Veil" blocks InfraRed lights. But there are some films/tints that do same job. Isn't it better to just tint (they have up to 99% transparent film too) headlights with film? Thx

Basically yes. Its all about reducing reflection of light. On headlights you can block reflection off of the lenses but you will also diminish the output of light through the lenses. You can use a clear film to reduce reflection of light or you can use a permanent marker,it comes down to a matter of quality,how well it works. And how it looks too.

Don't do it on headlights though,you can be ticketed.

Also keep in mind that just because something is tinted or dark in the VIS spectrum means that it is also dark in the wavelength of police lidar. Sometimes dark tints are completely transmissive in that region.

Use Veil and those headlight will turn soooooo sexy. That purplish tint that Veil adds to the headlights make the car look more expensive. In addition it will protect your lights from the Sun. My Civic headlights looked just like the day I bought the car after I removed Veil and that was after 6 years!

You didn't read carefully. I think I can use IR Tint, it's transparent, but blocking IR, which Laser Gun use... or mb not)

or depending on the car you might can buy smoked highlights that look better

I experimented with some films that absorbed light in the same spectrum as used by police laser. The film didn't seem to do that much. The film works off the same principle as Veil. However, I think Veil has a much higher concentration of the IR absorbing compounds than what is used in the film. The film I experimented with also was not well suited to be applied to compound curves such as headlights. The films you will find out there that block or absorb light in the police laser spectrum are typically designed to reduced heat and IR damage to buildings and car interiors.

That's exactly what I was looking on. And I came up with another thought. If IR films stops heat, then Veil keeps heat inside headlights too, which can be dangerous for powerful aftermarket HID, I'm wrong?

I would really doubt it. A lot of people use Veil on their lights and I have never heard of any heat problems.
