I read this a lot on here - front laser too. However; a radar detector is just a tool, a warning device. RD can be used to protect drivers from laser if they are smart. It is possible to pick up laser "scatter" from other targeted vehicles. Drivers have to be aware of what is going on around them. Not just because of speed enforcement but all the other factors that can get a driver in trouble. It's called defensive driving. Other vehicles braking, vehicles pulling out in front of them, tailgaters, debrise in the road, etc. Ever seen drivers who have some warning that a LEO is running enforcement and are driving accordingly, and then the driver who has to shoot out past them - sometimes with a RD on the windshield.....
Probably true though, especially if a driver is out alone, with no other vehicles around, and it speeding, and gets targeted front or rear with laser (or radar for that matter) and the LEO wants to stop them, they are probably gonna get a ticket.
