'Cause it is the second coming of Jesus!

Price of the admittance ticket is my guess.

Then again, why does the V1 cost so much? Not much middleman there.

It's what the consumer will bare. Most of my GPS units cost more than $400. The BMW Navigator II+ cost me $1400. Latest Garmin Zumo 550 was around $800. Quest was $500. The 60sx was maybe $350.

Price for the 9500i radar portion was pretty inexpensive!

The SirfIII chip can not cost more than $20     Well anyway I want to experience this evolutionary detector for myself. I will take plenty of video for all of you once I receive it. I will put it head to head with a V1 3.858. Consider this an appetizer to the full course meal the GOL test next month
When will you be receiving it? Today?? Eager to read your comments and comparison results.

My initial take is that, the 9500i seems to be equal to or better in Ka band 35.5 detection. Had a couple encouters with it and showed consistentcy with faster response. I don't know about the other frequencies though and will see what GOL's test results will be.

Well that remains to be seen. However, if we are talking only milliseconds in difference then you cannot call that "kicking". I would gladly trade a millisecond or two with the ability to lockout "known" non-LEO signals and perhaps the online downloading of future updates via the USB port (when/if that happens).

On paper the Escort 9500i is a great city detector but with the same board as the escort x50 I don't see much change the performance
